Matt is a pre-sales consultant at Ciber UK specialising in Business Productivity and Information/Knowledge Worker solutions, focused on the Microsoft stack, passionate about effective use of technology to solve business challenges and to deliver tangible benefits. Matt champions usage and adoption of technologies such as Office365, SharePoint, Lync and Windows 8.x devices (Laptops, Tablets and phones) to revolutionise the working practices and drive levels of productivity.

Matt is a strong and credible senior consultant, excelling in pre-sales and early stage engagements. With a broad and deep understanding of the business productivity space, Matt also covers topics such as Devices and Cloud, and is in his element presenting to audiences (both large and small). Recognised in the industry as a leader in his field, Matt is frequently invited to speak at conferences and sit on expert panels, he was appointed a v-TSP (Virtual Technology Solutions Professional) by Microsoft, aligned to Business Productivity.

Experienced in several verticals and strongly referenceable in Legal and Financial Services, Commercial and Public Sector.

During his short time at Ciber Matt has almost doubled the Business Productivity and Collaboration pipeline to over £1.6m, secured projects with a range of clients, and created strategic partnerships to augment and compliment the Ciber services proposition. During his tenure at Trinity, Matt grew Trinity’s SharePoint sales from £2m to over £7m, and grew the dedicated delivery team under his direct management from 5 to 19 heads.

Matt has a young family, and enjoys Carp fishing and Rugby. He also coaches junior Rugby.

Professional Experience

Pre-sales Consultant, 2014 - Present, Ciber (Ciber

Aligned to the Microsoft practice within Ciber UK, Matt supports the sales cycle and provides consultancy specifically around unlocking the value in the Microsoft Productivity stack. Specifically, Matt is responsible for:

  • Lead generation and building the pipeline
  • Supporting the sales cycle with:
    • Product and Solution demonstrations
    • Presentations
    • RFI/RFP responses & Proposal creation
  • Creation of service offerings and propositions within the Business Productivity arena
  • Championing usage and adoption of Office365
  • Marketing activities

Although the primary focus is pre-sales, Matt has also delivered chargeable engagements around Cloud readiness assessments and visioning/adoption planning for clients such as Hays and Channel 4. Matt works closely with Microsoft has been involved in the creation of a new workshop format for business alignment and value planning for Office365.

Head of Information Worker Solutions, 2010 – 2014, Trinity (Trinity

Responsible for the technical strategy of Trinity’s service offerings and delivery standards in the field of Information Worker Solutions, also responsible for the ongoing professional development and competence of the team, and for the sales and marketing positioning and collateral for IW/BP solutions at Trinity. Matt works closely with the Sales & Marketing Director in defining service offerings and in S&M activities.

During this time period Matt also covered prolonged absence periods for the Head of Delivery (responsible for Projects) and Head of Professional Services (responsible for the entirety of Trinity professional Services).

Selected as a v-TSP (Virtual Technology Solutions Professional) aligned to Business Productivity, this role involves supporting Microsoft in technical pre-sales, communicating the value of Microsoft Solutions to customers and to provide architectural guidance for Enterprise Integration solutions, and includes delivering presentations, product demonstrations and EBC sessions covering the BP and IW stacks (primarily SharePoint, Lync and Office365).

Responsible for the technical competence of the small team delivering SharePoint solutions while also providing client consultancy and operating as a Technical Architect on project teams. Clients/projects included:

  • DLA Piper – SharePoint deployment and legacy intranet migration

Technical Consultant, 2005 – 2006, Trinity

Primarily working as part of a project team delivering solutions to clients, but also providing ad-hoc consultancy and advice/guidance services. A deeply technical role that Matt excelled in, covering a breadth of Microsoft technologies (including several deliveries during early beta programmes) and multiple vertical sectors.

During this period Matt also delivered several engagements on behalf of Microsoft Consulting Services, some of these were for the Ministry of Defence and as such required Security Clearance, these included:

  • MOD/Qinetiq – CWID - A large interoperability exercise involving the MOD (and international counterparts) to investigate the operational use of emerging technologies (several were in beta). 
  • MOD – Federated identity and single-sign-on POC
  • HP – Blue Light Services federated shared service platform

IT Manager, 2001 – 2004, Magnetic North Software Ltd (

Responsible for management of the entire infrastructure for both Magnetic North and other companies within the Mirage Technology Holdings Group (Total of 50 users, 20 servers and 5 telephone switches, across 4 sites). Also responsible for managing a small team of customer support engineers. Prior to promotion in August 2002, employed as the Installation Engineer, responsible for the installation of Magnetic North products throughout Europe.
Key achievements included: Completion of Office re-location with only 10 hours service interruption and delivery of infrastructure refresh project 1 week ahead of schedule and under budget.

Held the position of 2nd Line Co-ordinator within Freeserve Support. Primarily responsible for evaluation and diagnosis of service outages, and managing a team of 2nd Line Technical Advisor’s.
